Basketball Game Preview: Hilltop Cadets vs. Montpelier Locomotives

The Hilltop Cadets will head out on the road to square off against the Montpelier Locomotives at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Hilltop is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

On Friday, Hilltop blew past North Central, posting a 55-21 victory. Given the Cadets' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Eagles are ranked 645th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Montpelier took their matchup on Friday with ease, bagging a 55-26 win over Edon. The Locomotives have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four contests by 20 points or more this season.

Hilltop pushed their record up to 11-0 with the victory, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Montpelier, their win bumped their record up to 7-3.

Hilltop didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Montpelier in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, but they still walked away with a 29-25 victory. Will Hilltop repeat their success, or does Montpelier have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
