Softball Game Preview: Elwood Panthers vs. Wabash Apaches

The Elwood Panthers will venture away from home to take on the Wabash Apaches at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Fans were treated to a battle of the Panthers on Thursday. Elwood lost 10-0 to Eastbrook. The game marked the first time this season in which Elwood was not able to get on the board.

Elwood saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kelsey Armes, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Meanwhile, Wabash came up short against Rochester on Thursday, falling 8-2. The Apaches have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Elwood has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Wabash, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-9.

Elwood beat Wabash 5-2 when the teams last played back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
