Football Recap: Rogers Comes Up Short

Rogers extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping them down to 2-5. They were beaten by the Puyallup Vikings 65-6. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington football rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Vikings are ranked first).

Rashard Boone threw for 119 yards on ten of 18 attempts. Kasen Kimble was his top target, picking up 101 receiving yards.

As for Puyallup, their win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-0. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six games by 34 points or more this season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Puyallup to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jayden Woodland, who picked up 82 receiving yards and three touchdowns. That's the most receiving touchdowns Woodland has posted since back in October of 2024. Lawson Looker was another key pass catcher, picking up 58 receiving yards and three scores.

Rogers wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 42-35 defeat against South Kitsap on the 23rd. As for Puyallup, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-0 victory against Curtis on the 24th.
