Basketball Recap: Wilson Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Michael Best and Damiran Smith

Wilson was the 53-37 winner over Panther Creek when they last played one another back in December of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Wilson Wildcats took a 61-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panther Creek Panthers. The Wildcats' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Damiran Smith and Michael Best certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Smith went 7 of 12 on his way to 17 points, while Best posted 18 points. Smith is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Isaac Lwate was another key player, putting up five points.

SABIEN MCGRAW was his usual excellent self, going 7 of 17 on his way to 21 points for Panther Creek. That's the most points MCGRAW has posted since back in November. The team also got some help courtesy of RYAN WHITEHEAD, who put up 11 points.

Wilson's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Panther Creek, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Wilson wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 71-52 loss against Cedar Hill on the 28th. Panther Creek has also already played their next match, a 54-50 defeat against St. Mark's on the 28th.
