Basketball Recap: Vandalia Comes Up Short

Vandalia lost against Brownstown back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. The Vandalia Vandals were outmatched by the Brownstown Bombers and fell 68-36. While losing is never fun, the Vandals can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 308th, while the Bombers are ranked 110th).

Brownstown found their leader in sophomore Dayana Haslett, who posted 41 points. Haslett's evening made it 18 games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Miller, who had ten points.

Vandalia's loss dropped their record down to 14-10. As for Brownstown, they pushed their record up to 22-3 with the victory, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Vandalia will head out to face off against DuQuoin at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Brownstown, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Ramsey at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
