Baseball Recap: Higley Snags Third Victory in Last Four Games

Higley took a ten-run loss the last time they faced off against Highland, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Knights never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 2-0 win on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Knights: when they faced off against the Hawks last Tuesday, they had to take a 11-1 defeat.

Not much got past Jet Gonzalez, who gave up just three hits to keep Highland off the board. Gonzalez also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Higley is 6-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 7-8 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Higley's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Blake Daly, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Daly a new career-high.

Higley is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Highland, they dropped their record down to 11-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Higley will challenge Gilbert at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Highland, they will square off against Cibola at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. The last three games the Raiders have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
