Basketball Recap: Salisbury Starts Season with Win on the Road

Salisbury had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 38-27 win over the Greenwood Mennonite Flames. The team accrued 28 points in the first half and coasted on those for the victory.

Leading Salisbury to victory were Ameliah Badmus and Sydney Matyiko. Badmus posted 13 points and seven steals, while Matyiko had five points and nine boards.

Salisbury smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in four consecutive games dating back to last season.

Greenwood Mennonite lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Bobbie Smith, who earned nine points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Hibbs, who put up six points and 13 rebounds.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Salisbury will face off against Holly Grove Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Greenwood Mennonite, they will challenge Calvary Baptist Church Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
