Football Game Preview: West Chicago Wildcats vs. South Elgin Storm + How To Watch

West Chicago is 0-9 against South Elgin since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Wildcats will head out to square off against the Storm at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

West Chicago is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Ridgewood: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Wildcats blew the Rebels out of the water with a 66-20 final score. That looming 66-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Wildcats yet this season.

Carter Naranjo was his usual excellent self, rushing for 140 yards and four scores while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also throwing for 58 yards and one touchdown on only five passes. Naranjo is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 132 every time he's taken the field this season. Liam Zbierski was another key player, gaining 74 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West Chicago was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 362 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 340 rushing yards in seven consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Another reason for the win was West Chicago's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for six sacks. Jayden Rosario was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself.

Meanwhile, South Elgin was able to grind out a solid victory over West Aurora on Friday, taking the game 42-35. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Storm.

The win got South Elgin back to even at 2-2. As for West Chicago, their record now sits at 3-1.

West Chicago ended up a good deal behind South Elgin in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, losing 38-21. Can the Wildcats avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
