Softball Recap: Maple Mountain Triumphs

Maple Mountain made up a huge gap compared to their last game against North Sanpete, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Golden Eagles never let the Hawks get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory on Saturday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Golden Eagles' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Kyla Donegan was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over five innings pitched. Donegan was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carly Erickson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. McClain Carter was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Maple Mountain always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .519. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as North Sanpete only posted an OBP of .316.

Maple Mountain didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 9-6 loss against South Sevier on the 12th. As for North Sanpete, they have also already played their next game, a 14-4 defeat against Payson on the 12th.
