Recap: Morristown Yellow Jackets vs. Indianapolis Scecina Memorial Crusaders
The Morristown Yellow Jackets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Everything went their way against Indianapolis Scecina Memorial as Morristown made off with a 54-32 victory.
Morristown's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayla Keithley, who scored 17 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Nelson, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds.
Indianapolis Scecina Memorial's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Ainsley Brown, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds, and Mia Miller who scored four points along with five rebounds. Brown scored a full 34.4% of Indianapolis Scecina Memorial's points, the ninth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Indianapolis Scecina Memorial were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Morristown's victory ended a seven-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-10. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, their defeat was their ninth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 3-9.
Morristown will face off against Southwestern on Thursday. Southwestern is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Indianapolis Scecina Memorial, they will be playing at home against Indianapolis Arsenal Technical at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Indianapolis Arsenal Technical focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 last Saturday.
