Softball Game Preview: Gladwin Flying G's vs. Standish-Sterling Panthers

Gladwin is 2-8 against Standish-Sterling since April of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Flying G's will head out to square off against the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Gladwin has given up an average of 12.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Gladwin is headed into Wednesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They came up short against St. Louis, falling 21-13.

Jordyn Bazzle was cooking despite her team's loss, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Angelica Corlew, who went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Standish-Sterling fell victim to Clare and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They lost 10-0 to the Pioneers. The Panthers have struggled against the Pioneers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost meeting.

Gladwin's loss dropped their record down to 7-14. As for Standish-Sterling, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Gladwin couldn't quite get it done against Standish-Sterling when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 6-1. Can the Flying G's avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
