Basketball Game Preview: Lakeview Vikings vs. York Dukes

Lakeview hasn't had much luck against York recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Lakeview Vikings will host the York Dukes at 2:30 p.m.

Lakeview is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 55 points on Saturday, they were much more limited against Seward on Tuesday. They were outmatched by the Bluejays and fell 54-22. While losing is never fun, the Vikings can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 147th, while the Bluejays are ranked 37th).

Despite their defeat, Lakeview saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Abby Bird, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all.

Meanwhile, York had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.4 points) and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They took down the Falcon 48-33.

York pushed their record up to 17-2 with the win, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.2 points over those games. As for Lakeview, their loss dropped their record down to 6-14.

Lakeview was taken down by York 58-29 in their previous meeting last Tuesday. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Lakeview was down 34-13.
