Basketball Game Preview: La Academia Charter vs. Jenkintown Drakes

Having just played yesterday, La Academia Charter will jump right back in to play the Jenkintown Drakes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Jenkintown took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on La Academia Charter, who comes in off a win.

La Academia Charter is headed out in good spirits considering the team just ended their winless streak on the road against Steelton-Highspire on Monday. La Academia Charter came out on top against Steelton-Highspire by a score of 68-61.

Meanwhile, Jenkintown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were five points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 44-39 heartbreaker at the hands of Valley Forge Military Academy.

La Academia Charter will have to contain Angel Rivera as he made an impact in Jenkintown's last game. He went 5 for 11 on his way to 14 points and six rebounds. The dominant performance gave Rivera a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matt Ecker, who posted six points in addition to seven rebounds and three steals.

Even though they lost, Jenkintown smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive boards they've managed all season.

La Academia Charter's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Jenkintown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

La Academia Charter was able to grind out a solid victory over Jenkintown in their previous matchup back in January of 2022, winning 53-44. Will La Academia Charter repeat their success, or does Jenkintown have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
