The Harmony Longhorns will face off against the Bayside Bears at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Harmony will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
Harmony proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by six) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past South Lake 4-2.
Elyssa Staley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on two hits and racked up 11 Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Emerson Aslan, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Bayside got themselves on the board against Westwood on Tuesday, but Westwood never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 22-0 win. The Bears might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by six runs or more this season.
NICOLE GARCIA made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up a single walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, Bayside let REESE MONTGOMERY and EMILY LOWE run wild. MONTGOMERY went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double, while LOWE went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI LOWE has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was MIA ALLI, who got on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Bayside was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .538. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Harmony back to even at 6-6. As for Bayside, their win bumped their record up to 9-4.
Everything went Harmony's way against Bayside in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, as Harmony made off with an 8-0 victory. Do the Longhorns have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bears turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
