Softball Recap: Monroe Central Drops Highest Score of Season Against Union City

Monroe Central had lost nine straight at home, but on Saturday they dropped their record down to 1-16 to make it ten. They fell just short of the Union City Indians by a score of 14-13. On the bright side, the 13- run performance marked the Golden Bears' highest-scoring match to date.

Monroe Central got a massive performance out of Laura Walker, who went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Aleiyah Davis, who went 1-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

As for Union City, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games.

On Union City's side, Oaklee Reichard was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Reichard has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last three times she's played. Brianna Williams was another key player, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Monroe Central wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 12-1 loss against Northeastern on the 12th. As for Union City, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 3-2 defeat against Winchester Community on the 10th.
