Baseball Game Preview: Snowflake Lobos vs. ALA - Ironwood Warriors

The Snowflake Lobos will take on the ALA - Ironwood Warriors in a tournament on Friday. Snowflake will be strutting in after a win while ALA - Ironwood will be coming in after a defeat.

Snowflake had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They blew past Benjamin Franklin 13-2.

Kyler Matthews made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. That's the fewest hits he has allowed since back in March of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Skip Bawden, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-3. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenyan Bryant, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Thursday just wasn't the day for ALA - Ironwood's offense. They lost 21-0 to San Tan Charter on Thursday.

Snowflake took their victory against ALA - Ironwood in their previous meeting back in March of 2021 by a conclusive 12-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for Snowflake since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
