Basketball Recap: Manny Pullium's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Voyager Academy over Vance Charter

If Voyager Academy was feeling good fresh off their 86-49 takedown of Excelsior Classical Academy last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Voyager Academy Vikings took a 62-56 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Vance Charter Knights. The Vikings were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Knights earlier this season, when they won 65-62.

Voyager Academy lost on Tuesday despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Manny Pullium, who went 7-for-14 en route to 18 points and five assists. He has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was McKinley Hemsley, who posted 13 points and seven rebounds.

Voyager Academy's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 13-1 and their overall record down to 21-7. As for Vance Charter, the win was the ninth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
