Basketball Recap: Andrew Lopez's Big Game Can't Quite Lead MAST Charter II over Freire Charter

MAST Charter II was the 33-24 winner over Freire Charter when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Voyagers fell 42-36 to the Dragons on Thursday. The Voyagers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Voyagers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Andrew Lopez, who posted 11 points and four steals. Lopez is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last five games he's played. Jadan Thomas was another key player, almost dropping a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.

The defeat was their first on the road , dropping their record down to 4-4. As for Freire Charter, they pushed their record up to 4-2 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season.

MAST Charter II wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 55-46 victory against The City School on the 12th. As for Freire Charter, they will face off against Odessa at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
