Preview: Dwight Morrow Maroon Raiders vs. River Dell Golden Hawks
The Dwight Morrow Maroon Raiders will take on the River Dell Golden Hawks at 12:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Last Wednesday, it was a hard-fought contest, but Dwight Morrow had to settle for a 56-53 defeat against Fort Lee. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Dwight Morrow came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Fort Lee is ranked 273rd).
Meanwhile, River Dell scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They walked away with a 73-65 win over Mahwah. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Sean Golden was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 24 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Hickey, who scored 18 points.
Dwight Morrow's loss dropped their record down to 12-9. As for River Dell, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.
Dwight Morrow strolled past River Dell in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 64-47. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dwight Morrow since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
