Softball Game Preview: San Gabriel Matadors vs. Alhambra Moors

San Gabriel hasn't had much luck against Alhambra recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Matadors will challenge the Moors at 3:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

San Gabriel is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game last Thursday. They took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Montebello.

Meanwhile, Alhambra was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 5-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Rio Hondo Prep.

Layla Sanchez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Amari Antunez, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

San Gabriel's defeat dropped their record down to 3-8. As for Alhambra, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

San Gabriel suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Alhambra in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Matadors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
