Softball Game Preview: Hanford West Huskies vs. Bullard Knights

The Hanford West Huskies will take on the Bullard Knights at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Hanford West's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while Bullard has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

Last Tuesday, Hanford West beat Hanford 8-3. The victory continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Bullpups: they've now won three in a row.

Rylan Montoya spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits were her first of the season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Adyson Owens, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Kennidy Perryman, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Hanford West was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hanford only posted a batting average of .042.

Meanwhile, Bullard sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 4-3 win over Central on Wednesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Knights have posted against the Grizzlies since March 25, 2021.

Hanford West's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Bullard, they now have a winning record of 5-4.
