Basketball Recap: Ej Nwapa's Big Game Can't Quite Lead the Meadows School over Boulder City

The Meadows School lost against Boulder City back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Meadows School Mustangs took a 45-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Boulder City Eagles. The Mustangs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

The Meadows School lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Ej Nwapa, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds. With that strong performance, Nwapa is now averaging an impressive 2.2 steals per game. Another player making a difference was Evie De Wit, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Boulder City's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Makenzie Martorano, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 boards. What's more, Martorano also racked up five steals, the most she's had since back in December of 2023. Sophia Muelrath was another key player, almost dropping a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Meadows School's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Boulder City, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-2.

The Meadows School will head out to face off against Doral Academy Red Rock at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Meadows School is facing Doral Academy Red Rock at the right time seeing as Doral Academy Red Rock is stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Boulder City, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 46-38 win against GV Christian on the 13th.
