Baseball Recap: Culver Community Drops Season-High Score on Oregon-Davis

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Culver Community). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Oregon-Davis Bobcats a 12-0 shutout on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cavaliers as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

Caleb McCuen made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted over his last six matchups.

In other batting news, Jonas McCuen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Kyler Weiger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one double.

The win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-12. As for Oregon-Davis, they are on a 21-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Coming up, Culver Community will head out to take on West Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Oregon-Davis, they will face off against Marquette Catholic at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
