Baseball Recap: St. Francis De Sales' Win on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

St. Francis de Sales had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They skirted past the Rocky River Pirates 2-1. The win was nothing new for the Knights as they're now sitting on three straight.

Tommy Woycik made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Woycik wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Tucker, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases. Tucker has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last seven times he's played.

St. Francis de Sales' record is now 21-10. As for Rocky River, their defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 20-9-1.

Coming up, St. Francis de Sales will challenge Wapakoneta at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Knights 3.9, the Redskins 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Rocky River does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
