Baseball Recap: Faith Christian Has No Trouble Against Anniston

Faith Christian's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over the Anniston Bulldogs. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by six runs or more this season.

Jayden Smith made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 11 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Smith was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March of 2024.

In other batting news, Faith Christian let Toby Ricard and Levi Wells run wild. Ricard scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Wells scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Wells a new career-high in hits (two). Tanner Smith also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.

Faith Christian pushed their record up to 3-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Anniston, they are on a 16-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. A feisty cat fight will be fought as the Lions duke it out with the Wildcats at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Anniston, they will head out to face off against Central of Coosa County at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
