Basketball Game Preview: Troy Flying Horses vs. Ichabod Crane Riders

The Troy Flying Horses will take on the Ichabod Crane Riders at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Troy has four straight victories, Ichabod Crane has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

Last Tuesday, Troy beat Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake 47-40.

Troy found their leader in sophomore Amaya Harris, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 20 points and eight boards. Harris is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Kiana Tiernan was another key player, putting up eight points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Ichabod Crane played a tough game on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 58-30 loss at the hands of Guilderland. While losing is never fun, the Riders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 314th, while the Flying Dutchmen are ranked 119th).

Troy is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-5 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Ichabod Crane, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.

Troy might still be hurting after the 56-32 loss they got from Ichabod Crane in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Troy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
