Basketball Recap: Bryce Baker's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Fellowship Academy over First Baptist

Fellowship Academy lost against First Baptist back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The contest between the Fellowship Academy Mustangs and the First Baptist Saints didn't end well, with the Fellowship Academy Mustangs falling 77-63. While losing is never fun, the Mustangs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1354th, while the Saints are ranked 369th).

Fellowship Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Baker, who went 10 of 21 en route to 24 points and seven rebounds. The match was Baker's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Harper Clark, who went 7 of 9 on his way to 16 points and six rebounds.

Micah Foster continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for First Baptist, going 7 of 12 on his way to 18 points in addition to seven boards and seven steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quincy Rheams, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds.

Fellowship Academy now has a losing record at 5-6. As for First Baptist, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 7-1.

Fellowship Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 32-25 defeat against Lucas Christian Academy on the 27th. As for First Baptist, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 90-35 victory against Weatherford Christian on the 27th.
