Jaquan Thomas had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 124 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. Thomas is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 124 every time he's taken the field this season. Evan Commodore also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for William Floyd, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Commodore, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Another reason for the win was William Floyd's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: David Gonzalez, Jayden Johnson, and Rashaun Wright, who each picked up one sack apiece. Gonzalez was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 15 total tackles.
Meanwhile, Ward Melville blew past Sachem North, posting a 42-7 win. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Patriots' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 92nd, while Sachem North are ranked 236th).
Ward Melville's win came from a few key players William Floyd will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Joey Benedetto, who rushed for 79 yards and three scores, and also picked up 37 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Hudson Philbrick, who threw for 294 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 88.2% of his passes.

Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. William Floyd has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 298 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ward Melville struggles in that department as they've been averaging 197.4 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
William Floyd beat Ward Melville 28-21 when the teams last played back in October. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Colonials since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
