Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask West Carroll). They put the hurt on the Humboldt Vikings with a sharp 15-3 win on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the War Eagles as it put an end to their six-game losing streak.

Cole McMinn made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has become a key player for West Carroll: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 0-10 otherwise. McMinn was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, R.Q. Thompson was a standout: he scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Mason Taylor was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

West Carroll's win bumped their record up to 2-11. As for Humboldt, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: West Carroll beat Humboldt by a score of 16-1 later that day.
