Basketball Recap: Jeremiah Williams' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Mccormick over Saluda

McCormick easily dispatched South Carolina School for the Deaf & Blind on Tuesday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The McCormick Chiefs fell just short of the Saluda Tigers by a score of 50-48 on Wednesday. The Chiefs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Tigers earlier this season, when they won 55-47.

McCormick's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jeremiah Williams, who went 7 for 14 on his way to 20 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daruis Houston, who posted 14 points in addition to four steals and three blocks.

McCormick moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Saluda, their victory bumped their record up to 8-3.

McCormick has already played their next game, a 76-68 win against Thornwell on the 9th. As for Saluda, they will challenge American Leadership Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Saluda is facing American Leadership Academy at the right time seeing as American Leadership Academy is stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
