Recap: Parkland Matadors vs. Hanks Knights
The Parkland Matadors's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their third straight loss. They suffered a tough 61-37 defeat at the hands of Hanks. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat Parkland has suffered since December 15, 2023.
Several Matadors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jayden Whitt, who scored 15 points along with three steals. Whitt's trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. Another player making a difference was Anthony Allen, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Israel Gonzalez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hanks, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. Martin Gomez was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with three steals.
Parkland's defeat was their fourth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 8-15. As for Hanks, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-13.
Parkland will challenge Horizon at 7:20 p.m. on Friday. Horizon has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Hanks, they will be playing at home against Ysleta at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
