Baseball Recap: South Ripley's Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak at Home

South Ripley dropped their record down to 4-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They lost 11-2 to the Milan Indians. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Indians apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

South Ripley saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braxton Wilson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Another was Ethan Schmaltz, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

As for Milan, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games.

On Milan's side, Brady Alcorn made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching six innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. Alcorn was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. That double was his first of the season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Noah Morgan, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one stolen base. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Cayden Davidson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. South Ripley will take on Switzerland County at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Pacers' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Raiders' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Milan, they will challenge Rising Sun at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
