Basketball Game Preview: Marshall Owls vs. Odessa Bulldogs

The Marshall Owls will square off against the Odessa Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Marshall is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.

Marshall saw some tournament action on Wednesday. They were dealt a 71-33 defeat at the hands of St. Michael the Archangel. The game marked the Owls' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite their loss, Marshall saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Angel Aguirre, who posted nine points, was perhaps the best of all. Brody Kueker was another key player, putting up eight points and eight boards.

Meanwhile, Odessa was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Monday as they fell 57-52 to Cameron.

Marshall will have to contain Landon Linkhart as he made an impact in Odessa's last game. He earned nine points.

Odessa has been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-6 record this season. As for Marshall, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.

Marshall strolled past Odessa when the teams last played back in January of 2024 by a score of 73-55. Does Marshall have another victory up their sleeve, or will Odessa turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
