Preview: Eden Raiders vs. Kennedy Bears
Eden and Kennedy are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2018, but not for long. The Eden Raiders will be playing at home against the Kennedy Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Eden's favor as the squad sits on five straight wins at home while Kennedy has been banged up by five consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.
Last Friday, Eden strolled past Christian Central Academy with points to spare, taking the game 70-51. Given Eden's advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 177th, while Christian Central Academy is ranked 788th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eden had a senior duo take command as Mike Weyland scored 23 points along with five rebounds and four steals and Taesyn Slating dropped a double-double on 15 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Weyland has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Brady Mason, who scored four points along with six assists and three steals.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 93-54, which was the final score in Kennedy's tilt against Fredonia back in December of 2023. Kennedy was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 47-23.
Eden's win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Kennedy, their loss dropped their record down to 0-2.
Eden was able to grind out a solid victory over Kennedy in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, winning 76-64. Will Eden repeat their success, or does Kennedy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
