Softball Recap: Catoctin Extends Winning Streak to Four

Catoctin entered their tilt with Williamsport on Friday with three consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with four. They blew past the Wildcats 10-0. Give the Cougars' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's fourth straight shutout.

Taylor Smith was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out 15 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Madison Ohler, who scored a run while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. Bralyn West was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.

Catoctin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .478. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in four consecutive matches.

Catoctin's record now sits at 5-1-1. As for Williamsport, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.

Coming up, Catoctin will square off against Boonsboro at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Warriors' pitching crew has only allowed 0.6 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Williamsport has already played their next contest (against Walkersville), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
