Softball Game Preview: Westbrook Wildcats vs. Ira Bulldogs

Westbrook hasn't had much luck against Ira recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Wildcats will challenge the Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. Westbrook knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past six contests -- so hopefully Ira likes a good challenge.

Things were looking good for Westbrook after they put the first run on the board on Tuesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Ira by a score of 14-13.

For Ira's part, Kelcee Kemp was incredible, going a perfect 5-for-5 with three stolen bases, four runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave Kemp a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Makali Pechacek, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Ira was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .419. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .419 or higher in three consecutive matches.

Westbrook's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-9. As for Ira, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 10-5 record.
