Baseball Recap: Monterey Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Monterey and Palma pushed the score to 12-11 the last time they played Palma, but on Wednesday defenses reigned supreme. The Toreadors sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-1 victory over the Chieftains. The win was nothing new for the Toreadors as they're now sitting on three straight.

Johnny Money spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on seven hits. Monterey is undefeated when Money allows one or fewer earned runs, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Monterey's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Greyson Everett, who went 1-for-2 with one run.

Monterey's record is now 8-6. As for Palma, this is the second loss in a row for them and also nudges their season record down to 8-6.

Monterey will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Chieftains: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
