Softball Recap: Hopkinton's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Ten

Hopkinton had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Norwood Mustangs with a sharp 15-1 victory. This was a revenge game for the Hillers: when they faced off against the Mustangs back in April, they had to take a 9-8 defeat.

Addy Walls spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on three hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Holly Paharik, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. She is on a roll when it comes to RBI, as she's now brought in four or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ashley Callery, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Hopkinton kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.

Hopkinton's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Norwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Hopkinton does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Norwood, they will head out on the road to challenge Medway at 4:15 p.m. on Thursday.
