It's playoff time, and South Allegheny had no trouble coming through when it counted. They really took it to the Waynesburg Central Raiders for the full four quarters, racking up a 61-13 win. The result was nothing new for the Gladiators, who have now won nine matchups by 22 points or more so far this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead South Allegheny to victory, but perhaps none more so than Joey Gamret, who rushed for 107 yards and a pair of scores on only 12 carries. Gamret also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, picking up a sack and making five total tackles. Marcel Boxley was another key rusher, gaining 94 total yards and two touchdowns.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: South Allegheny was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 200 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Waynesburg Central only rushed for 64.
South Allegheny didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Drew Cook and Chance Cole.
Waynesburg Central's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Zachery Jiblits, who picked up 115 receiving yards and one TD. Jiblits got the majority of those receiving yards when he pulled down a pass and took off for a gain of 70 yards.
South Allegheny's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Waynesburg Central, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
As of now, neither South Allegheny nor the Raiders have any future games scheduled.
