Volleyball Recap: Payton Whitcum's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Woodmore over Cardinal Stritch

It was a proper cat-fight when Woodmore duked it out with Cardinal Stritch on Wednesday. The Wildcats came up short against the Cardinals, falling 3-0. The Wildcats have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

While Woodmore ultimately came up short, they didn't go down without a fight: they scored at least 18 points in every set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-23, 25-22, 25-18.

Woodmore lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Payton Whitcum, who had 11 digs and two aces. Whitcum is crushing it when it comes to digs: she's had at least 11 every time she's taken the court this season. Vida Guillen was another key player, getting 15 assists and seven digs.

Woodmore's defeat dropped their record down to 2-3. As for Cardinal Stritch, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-1.

Woodmore wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-1 loss against St. Joseph Central Catholic on the 28th. As for Cardinal Stritch, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 3-2 win against Emmanuel Christian on the 28th.
