Basketball Recap: Capistrano Valley Christian Skates Past Cathedral City with Ease + How To Watch

The third road game was the charm for Capistrano Valley Christian, as they earned their first away win of the season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Friday as they easily beat the Cathedral City Lions 81-21. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point the Eagles had established a 57-point advantage.

Capistrano Valley Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Benjamin Makelela out in front who dropped a double-double with 23 points and 14 rebounds. Makelela is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down ten or more in each of the last 18 games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Matthew Ahern, who shot 53% from the field to rack up 22 points along with seven assists and three steals.

Capistrano Valley Christian was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive matchups.

Despite the defeat, Cathedral City saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jayden Wallace posted 11 points in addition to seven rebounds and four blocks. Those four blocks set a new season-high mark for Wallace.

Capistrano Valley Christian now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Cathedral City, their loss dropped their record down to 0-6.
