Softball Recap: Emery Continues Home Dominance on Wednesday

Emery hadn't done well against Carbon recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. The Spartans blew past the Dinos 9-3. The result was nothing new for the Spartans, who have now won ten matches by six runs or more so far this season.

Kallee Lake spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on seven hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elli Stoker was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Katelyn Nielson was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.

Emery pushed their record up to 14-10 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Carbon, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.

Emery will be playing in front of their home fans against North Sanpete at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Spartans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hawks have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season. As for Carbon, they will head out on the road to square off against Union at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dinos' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cougars have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
