            The Downey Knights will challenge the Salinas Cowboys at 4:00  p.m.  on Friday. Downey is coming into the  match on  a  three-game losing streak.
Things were looking good for Downey after they put the first points on the board on Wednesday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They took  a  9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Manteca.
  Jayceon Sloan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  went 2-for-3 with one  home run and three  RBI. That's the most  hits  he has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of  Elijah Ortega, who  scored two  runs while going 2-for-3.
Salinas not only won  on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win  since March 4, 2024. They blew past Soledad 13-2.
 Jordan Isla made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit (and only one walk). What's more,  he gave up only one  walk, the fewest he's  had since back in April of 2024. He was also big at the plate,  getting on base  in four of his five plate appearances with two  runs and one  triple. That  triple marked the first that  he  hit this season.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Dezmond Corn, who  went 3-for-5 with four  RBI, two  runs,  and one  triple. That  triple was  his first of the season. Another player making a difference was  J.T. Lopez, who  scored a  run while going 1-for-4.
 Salinas  kept the outfield on their toes and  finished the game with 12  hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now  got at least eight  hits in four consecutive  games.
 Downey's defeat dropped their record down to 1-7. As for Salinas, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
