Basketball Recap: Coventry's Loss Ends 11-Game Winning Streak at Home

Coventry entered their match against Streetsboro on Wednesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Coventry Comets received a blow as they fell 59-43 to the Streetsboro Rockets. The Comets' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Jack Batten was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 14 en route to 22 points along with five assists and three steals for Streetsboro. Batten continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Charles Ivory, who posted 12 points in addition to six boards and four steals.

Coventry's loss ended an 11-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 9-5. As for Streetsboro, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-2.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Coventry will face off against Cloverleaf at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cloverleaf has been dominant on offense recently, having racked up an incredible 212 points over their last three games. As for Streetsboro, they will take on Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The timing is sure in Streetsboro's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Springfield has been banged up by seven consecutive losses on the road.
