Basketball Recap: Crownpoint Takes a Loss

Crownpoint was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were beaten by the Tohatchi Cougars 62-23. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Eagles of the 79-52 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Tohatchi had a senior duo take command as Kyle Yazzie posted 21 points and Josh Dawes had 16 points. Dawes' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points.

Crownpoint's loss dropped their record down to 4-11. As for Tohatchi, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season.

Crownpoint wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 60-41 victory against Zuni on the 22nd. Tohatchi has also already played their next match, an 86-64 win against Thoreau on the 18th.
