Lincoln Southwest has gone a perfect 10-0 against Lincoln Northeast recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Silver Hawks will be playing in front of their home fans against the Rockets at 7:00 p.m. Lincoln Southwest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Lincoln Southwest is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Nebraska's top teams: Grand Island, who was ranked ninth at the time (Lincoln Southwest was ranked 15th). The Silver Hawks fell just short of the Islanders by a score of 4-3 on Thursday. The Silver Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Linkin Dush was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Landon Sandy made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Northeast had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They never let the Cardinals get on the board and left with a 6-0 win.
Not much got past Jordan Lemon, who gave up just two hits and racked up 12 Ks to keep Crete off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Drew Van Dyke, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxon Volkmer, who went 3-for-4 with two runs.
Lincoln Northeast was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Lincoln Northeast's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Lincoln Southwest, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-11.
Lincoln Southwest beat Lincoln Northeast 7-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Will the Silver Hawks repeat their success, or do the Rockets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
