The Ashley Screaming Eagle and the South Garner Titans squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but sadly the Ashley Screaming Eagle had to settle for second. They took a 42-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Titans. Ashley has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite the loss, Ashley still got an impressive performance from MacKenzie Morton, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds. Bella Cook was another key contributor, scoring six points along with five rebounds.
South Garner's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tamia Darden, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 14 rebounds. Darden has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jasmine Utley, who scored nine points along with three steals.
Ashley's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-12. As for South Garner, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 19-7 record this season.
Ashley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for South Garner, they will head out on the road to square off against Rolesville at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Rolesville's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 games.
