Football Game Preview: Stuarts Draft Cougars vs. Alleghany Cougars

Stuarts Draft will head out on the road to challenge Alleghany at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

It was a proper cat-fight when Stuarts Draft took on Rockbridge County on Friday. The Cougars took their game with ease, bagging a 52-14 win over the Wildcats. The contest marked the Cougars' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Stuarts Draft got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Derrick Moore out in front who rushed for 97 yards and one TD on only six carries. Another back making a difference was Baylor Graber, who rushed for 62 yards and one score.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Stuarts Draft was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 273 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Alleghany strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Waynesboro 36-14. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Cougars' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 97th, while the Little Giants are ranked 278th).

Stuarts Draft's record now sits at 4-1. As for Alleghany, their record is now 4-0.
