Basketball Recap: Bay's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Bay suffered their biggest loss since January 4th on Tuesday. They lost 68-45 to the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks. The Tornadoes' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Bay's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Vernon Bates, who posted seven points and six boards. Kamari Saunders was another key player, putting up seven points.

Even though they lost, Bay smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in ten consecutive matchups.

It was another big night for Zay Jenkins, who went 11 for 23 on his way to 32 points and three steals for Port St. Joe. Jenkins has been hot, having posted 15 or more points the last seven times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Justus Barber, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and ten rebounds.

Bay's defeat dropped their record down to 13-11. As for Port St. Joe, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-4 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bay will host Mosley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Bay is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54.1 points per game this season. As for Port St. Joe, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Blountstown at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Port St. Joe is on a eight-game streak of home wins, Blountstown a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
