Basketball Recap: Lincoln Southeast Knights vs. Omaha Westside Warriors
Lincoln Southeast has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 64-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Omaha Westside Warriors on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Knights can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 35th, while the Warriors are ranked fifth).

Loss or not, Lincoln Southeast got some senior leadership from Mari Shumaker and Mike Ngoyi. Shumaker went 5-for-8 to rack up 17 points and six rebounds, while Ngoyi posted 15 points and seven boards. Ngoyi's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 15 points. Chewy Thoat was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.
Even though they lost, Lincoln Southeast smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Omaha Westside only pulled down six offensive boards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Omaha Westside to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lee Robinson, who scored 13 points in addition to six assists and five boards. Thanks to that strong game, Robinson now owns an excellent 45.1% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Emre Gedik, who went 5-for-10 en route to 13 points.
Lincoln Southeast's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Omaha Westside, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 18-3.
Coming up, Lincoln Southeast will venture away from home to take on Lincoln High at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Lincoln Southeast is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 61.7 points per game this season. As for Omaha Westside, they will host Buena Vista at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Omaha Westside knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matches -- so hopefully Buena Vista likes a good challenge.
